Juanita MORE! Doing More

Content

Juanita MORE! has become a glamorous San Francisco phenomenon. But there is more to Juanita than her wigs, couture, and make-up. So much MORE!

Her modest home resembles a gorgeous European countryside house and accommodates a genuine, warm-hearted person with a special passion for cooking.

The events Juanita organizes are as various as the dresses and costumes she wears. They are all custom designed and crafted by Mr. David, internationally renowned fashion designer and couturier, who has designed hundreds of outfits for her so far that have been exhibited in local museums such as the SFMOMA and the de Young.

There is a deep appreciation here for Juanita and what she has been doing for the community since becoming locally active over a decade ago, organizing events, shows, and performances (most of which benefit a worthy cause). All this time, she has been inspiring hearts and minds, who in turn express their gratitude through art on their bodies with tattoos.

In 2006, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence recognized Juanita’s work by making her royal majesty a saint for spreading joy everywhere she goes. So much passion is contagious, and Juanita is not alone with her cause. The MOREboys, her dedicated followers/assistants, are equivalent to her close family, and are always there to help her. Like children ready to leave home, the first generation has gone out in the world to start their own lives and careers, while new generations of MOREboys have grown even larger in number.

There are two major events Juanita is hosting during pride week that you should definitely plan to attend. On June 24th, Thursday night at 6:00pm, the California Academy of Sciences will be transformed by glitz and glam when Juanita hosts a night with cocktails and music in Golden Gate Park.

For Sunday the 27th, there is just no way around Juanita MORE!’s 2010 Pride Party. Not only does it serve a good cause benefiting Bay Positives, theres a number of must- see performances for your enjoyment like the Alameda’s Cougar Cadet Corps Drumline, fabulous drag show with Glamamore, Miss Rahni, and Diamond Daggers; as well as DJ’s Will Automagic and Sean B of NYC’s SPANK, Kim Ann Foxman of Hercules & Love Affair, Chelsea Starr, James Glass, and Derrick Love. Tickets can be purchased at The Seventh Heart on Market and Franklin
