Asterisk SF Bar Hop

@ lookout
3600 16th Street, San Francisco

Where can you get a delicious plate of lumpia, drink margaritas, and enjoy Crème brûlée while dancing the night away? Dirty Dishes—that’s where. The Lookout in The Castro plays host to Dirty Dishes; a truly unique bar event, successfully marrying two of SF’s favorites: food and nightlife. Friends Brent Hall, Sam Wijeunawardena, and Chris Reyes started the event over three months ago. The highly anticipated event is held every 4th Thursday of the month. Enjoy rotational food vendors and indie electro beats, dirty house, and future bass; with various guest DJ’s that provide a fulfilling and entertaining evening that will prepare you for your rambunctious weekend.

1501 Folsom St., San Francisco

A sophisticated commemorative to pop music’s most flourishing era, The Paradise Lounge’s popular monthly gathering, “Ooh La La,” is an all vinyl, all 60’s French pop dance party (a genre formally termed “yé-yé”), brought to you by the well-respected and highly noted, Sergio Iglesias of Teenage Dance Craze. Not to slight the additional talent behind the affair; DJs Howie Pyro, Matt Bonar, Russell Quann, and Daniel Bermudez also spun an impressive and harmonious collection of records; mustering signature 1960’s classics, as well as the more obscure, but equally as impressive uncoverings from the era. Their sets featured a proper assemblage of international pop, garage rock, merseybeat, motown, early R&B, and blue eyed soul. While the venue’s swanky interior sets an atmosphere reminiscent of the soiree’s theme, and the appropriately well-dressed attendees twist and shake freely, there’s no doubt San Francisco est en amour with this tasteful pop symphony.
